Cleaners 'worth more to society' than bankers

Tue 15 Dec 09 Comments (1)

A new study has found hospital cleaners are worth more to society than bankers.

The research is revealed by the UK based New Economics Foundation (nef) in its just released report "A Big Rich? Calculating the real value to society of different professions".

The nef reports that hospital cleaners create over £10 in value for every £1 they receive in pay compared to 'elite' city bankers who destroy £7 of value for every £1 they create.

Listen to ABC Radio National's "PM" report on the study featuring Sue LInes, LHMU Assistant National Secretary.
